Alone in the Oaks (demo)

from Live From Lee Street- The Demos by Armstrong Gun

about

Music - Mortimer and Smith
Lyrics - Tocker

The main 'doom-esque' note run was introduced by Mortimer, thus paving the way for a bleaker song and completed with the ending riffs and solo, all added by Smith. The song title and lyrics were later composed, inspired by the first half of the song and a grey late-Autumn walk in Ashdown Forest.

lyrics

VERSE 1

'Twas God's will, I was born a disfigured man
Tarred as a freak, I turned to a thieving hand
Caught, and cast out of town by the village folk
Condemned and banished to a life amongst the Oaks

VERSE 2

With twisting trees to serve as my only friends
If I must die here, I shall first take revenge
The humble homesteads, round the old church spire
As they sleep, shall they feel the heat of man-made fire
